Every once in a while a artist comes along that is so talented that the normal "rules" don't apply. Paul Kahl is one of those guys. We deployed to Iraq together and it was there that I saw him turn every day things like duct tape, note cards, morphine bottle tubes, and splinting material into works of legitimate art. We drifted apart after we returned home but when I bumped into him at a Starbbucks outside San Antonio I was quick to invite him into the shop. Without any exaggeration, Paul can do anything; Calligraphy, drafting, design, wood carving, sketching, engraving (truely, the list keeps going). He can do in minutes what would take most people weeks.
